Weekly Roundup for 4-3-2022

Welcome to the Weekend EWC Nation! We’re still reeling from the fallout from Stranglemania, so let’s get a recap on the EWC’s biggest night of the year, catch up on what’s to come across the EWC, and more on this week’s edition of the Weekly Roundup.

Stranglemania XVII Recap & Highlights

MATCH ONE

TAG TEAM | NO DQ MATCH

OLIVIA SAINT & EL CHUPACABRA VS JASON & RUTHANN HUNTER   WINNERS via pinfall: JASON & RUTHANN HUNTER

Match Highlight:  Kickout by Ruthann Hunter! Chupa rolls out of the ring and grabs a sheet of glass before rolling back in and propping it up in the corner. Chupa goes to grab Ruth who connects with a superkick! Ruth sets up Chupa for a powerbomb, but he reverses into a destroyer! Chupa picks up Ruth and Crucifix Bombs Through The Glass Sheet In The Corner!!!! Chupa covers again!

MATCH TWO

WINNER: LAVENDER (earns a MITB shot at the HBO championship post-BORT if she’s eligible by then)

Match Highlight:  Nevaeh has paid not attention to Mark Keaton, instead continuing to batter Nina Samson. She swings Heaven’s Helper at a stunned Nina Samson and connects to the side of her head, she falls motionless into the arms of Mark Keaton. Mark Keaton looks down at Nina Samson and tosses her out of the elevator like a sack of potatoes. Nevaeh, infuriated that, by technicality, Mark Keaton got her elimination, swings the bat at Mark Keaton, he ducks under, still continuing to pilot the model Starship Enterprise, and Nevaeh smashes an unsuspecting Dalilah Ashe in the side of the head with Heaven’s Helper. Before he can steal another elimination, Nevaeh cracks Mark Keaton with Haven’s Helper and then proceeds to connect with Cast Out Of Heaven (Claymore Kick) to Dalilah Ashe. Dalilah Ashe stumbles into a heap right next to Nina Samson as the door of the elevator closes and it continues to ascend.

REBEL RHODES (FX CHAMPION) VS PHOENIX WINTERBORN (HBO CHAMPION) VS JAMES KEATON (CW CHAMPION) VS BOSA (SHOWTIME CHAMPION)       WINNER:  JAMES KEATON (earns a shot at the North American championship at Uprising XII)

Match Highlight:  Bosa tries to counter again, but finds himself victim to a desperation clinch that brings him down into position… For a powerbomb? The arena is going wild, the response mixed but slowly, overwhelmingly growing positive as Melinda Rhodes strains with all her might and gets the Beast up into the air! She turns on shaking legs, roars, and sends him BRUTALLY through the assembled table! Wood splinters on impact and Bosa is driven not just through the table, but into the broken ladder below! Flesh is no match for it. His face is an agonized rictus as he lies there, paralyzed by pain.

MATCH FOUR

DRAKE MEMORIAL CUP III

WEAPON-X MATCH

STITCHES VS ASRIEL BUZZARD VS MELODY MALONE VS “HEADHUNTRESS” AIYA    WINNER: ASRIEL BUZZARD (earns an Undisputed championship match at a later date)

Match Highlight:  Malone stands outside the ring holding two kendo sticks. She offers one to Aiya to steps out of the ring to accept it. ‘You bitches!’ screams Asriel but that may not be a good idea as Malone and Aiya crack him with several shots with the kendo sticks until he goes limp. Malone stand on the ring apron and motions to the structure Aiya starts to climb it but Malone shoves Aiya from it and sending her through the table at ringside. Malone drops to the floor next to Aiya before hitting a Queen’s Exile.

MATCH FIVE

INDY CHAMPIONSHIP

CAPTURE THE FLAG MATCH

SCORPIO VS NARUMI TSUTSUMI         WINNER: NARUMI TSUTSUMI 

Match Highlight:  Scorpio limps to the corner and climbs. As he reaches for the flag, Narumi grabs his ankle stopping him from going any further. She climbs the turnbuckles so she is level with Scorpio and leaps for a hurricanrana. Scorpio blocks it and attempts a powerbomb, In mid air, Narumi finally counters with a hurricanrana. Both crash to the mat but Narumi shoves Scorpio to the outside of the ring. Narumi uses the ropes to drag herself to her feet before slowly climbing. WHAM! Scorpio is back in the ring and cracks Narumi across the shoulder blades with a chair. She drops to the mat.

MATCH SIX

EWC NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP

DOG COLLAR MATCH

MARCU$ $T.JOHN VS JORDAN SHARPE     WINNER via pinfall: JORDAN F’N SHARPE

Match Highlight:  With one arm, $t. John grabs the chain and whips Sharpe around 180 degrees and into the turnbuckle. Marcu$ holds the chain across his forearm and nails Sharpe with a corner clothesline. The impact lifts Sharpe off the ground and Marcu$ capitalizes by choking him hard across the throat. Sharpe’s legs flail a bit and Marcu$ pushes harder, wrapping a second coil around. And just as Sharpe lands a kick to the shin of The Young Mogul, the force of the drop allows Marcu$ to snap the body of Jordan to the ground hard to his back. Sharpe’s face is red and swollen and absolutely covered in blood.

MATCH SEVEN

EWC UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP

LIGHT TUBES DEATH MATCH

MERCENARY VS DARNA DARE    WINNER via :  DARNA DARE

Match Highlight:  Mercenary steps over the top rope, drops to the floor and pulls out a steel chain. He starts to wrap it around his fist when Darna comes flying over the top rope with a vaulting press. Darna is first to her feet as she stomps several times down onto Mercenary before walking over towards Samantha. Joseph steps in front of her as Darna just waves at her before turning back towards Mercenary. As Darna makes her way towards him, a light tube shatters across her jaw as Mercenary is holding the remnants of it. Mercenary grabs Darna around her neck and throws her face first into the steel ring post. Darna bounces off it as Mercenary drags his thumb across his throat before looking at Samantha.

MATCH EIGHT

EWC INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

BARBED WIRE LADDER MATCH

IGGY SWANGO VS XAVIER REID       WINNER via pinfall: XAVIER REID

Match Highlight:  Reid pursues her and keeps her grounded with a stomp to the spine, seizing both arms as he flips Iggy over and begins to stump a mudhole through her face, screaming. Iggy goes limp for a moment, and Reid slows his roll, gasping for air, before coming to a standstill. He starts to drag the downed woman toward the fallen ladder, but he’s underestimated how much punishment Lady Stardust can take; she pulls an arm free, uses the other to drag Reid down, and seizes him around the head with her famously-powerful thighs, flipping him into the wire-clad frame, levering herself up with her arms to bounce him repeatedly into the ripping hooks!

MATCH NINE

X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

FLAMING-X MATCH

DARIUS VS EL PABLO         WINNER via 10 count : EL PABLO

Match Highlight:  Darius turns to face him, but Pablo rushes forward with a slingblade … but Darius manages to reverse the maneuver and holds Pablo aloft in the air! Pablo lands a few elbows into Darius’ face, but Darius rushes forward and chucks Pablo into one of the corners! Darius then rushes Pablo and plants his boot right into his jaw, nearly sending Pablo over the top rope, but Darius holds his boot there, pinning Pablo into the corner! Pablo tries to fight him off but Darius holds him tight against the corner until the flames rise up again, catching Pablo’s feather boa belt on fire!!

MATCH TEN

EWC WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

TLC MATCH

SABOTAGE VS THE SOUTHERN EXPRESS     WINNERS via pinfall: THE SOUTHERN EXPRESS

Match Highlight:  Callie is all smiles as she turns and whacks Bobby across the back as well.

She drops the kendo stick before starting to climb the ladder again. Dozier is starting get up as a loud smack echoes throughout the arena. The cameras show Bunny Love standing inside the ring, holding a kendo stick and Callie down on the canvas. Bunny is screaming for Bobby and Jimmy to get up. She goes swing the stick again at Callie. This time Callie’s friend Tori enters the ring and catches the kendo stick. Bunny’s face lights up as she looks away for a second. She comes back and punches Tori in the face. Bunny is laughing until Tori looks at her. Bunny quickly leaves the ring as Tori begins to chase her. As this is happening, Callie, Dozier and Southern Express have gotten back up to their feet. All four of the glance up then start wailing away at each other. Bobby and Jimmy gain the upper hand until Dozier counters an Irish whip with a sharp forearm across the jaw. Before Jimmy drops, Dozier lifts him up onto his shoulders and connects with The End onto a steel chair.

MAIN EVENT

EWC UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONSHIP

RAGE IN THE CAGE | MONSTERS BALL

ACE KING VS KILLJOY ITO          RESULT:   DRAW

Match Highlight:  There’s a ROAR from the champion, and before King can capitalize further, the Ace of EWC rears up into a backhand chop, leaving an angry mark and a substantial amount of blood on the other man’s chest. He combos into a savagely-whipping low kick to the back of the thigh, and as King stumbles aims to hook him up – but eats a swift jab to the ribs for his trouble, a return kick from Ace, and then the challenger HAULS Ito up and over his shoulders, executing an airplane spin that carries the pair of them to mid-ring. Keeping a grip, Ace looks up at the title, mouths a few words, and then with a battle cry spins out into a running Death Valley Driver, right atop the folded ladder! The impact is sickening!!
