With the 2023 season schedule announced on January 25th, everything is kicking into full swing here at the Extreme Wrestling Corporation. Before we dive into our first brand spotlight special with the EWC Season 24 Preview Series – we have some big news that’s going to change the landscape of ALL of the brands in EWC!
The Legend of the Ring tournament was announced on the heels of the EWC’s season schedule – potentially culminating in a match for the EWC Undisputed Championship at Stranglemania!
The tournament will span three shows, single elimination style, as each of the four main brands looks to send their best representative to Stranglemania to seal the deal. There have been a flurry of names all vying for the opportunity to represent their home brand, and we can’t WAIT to see who ends up making the cut, to go on to Stranglemania, earn the title “Legend of the Ring”, and either the Undisputed Championship, or a shot at the champion if the current champion doesn’t advance to the finals of the tournament. After seeing what happened in season 23 – I can guarantee that the action in season 24 is going to be just as, if not more, explosive.
Now – onto the first of FIVE brand spotlights this week, staring with our newest stand alone brand:
EWC’s newest addition to the brand family – NextGen is exactly what it says it is: the home for the Next Generation of EWC talent. Having started with a successful run in the 2022 season, NextGen crowned its first ever champion at Stranglemania last year in newcomer Sunny Skye, garnering her not only the championship but a contract to one of the EWC’s ‘staple’ brands.
This season, NextGen has shaken up their game and made a few changes. In keeping with the EWC’s theme for 2023 – “We Build Legends and Preserve Legacies” – the EWC has bolstered it’s staff surrounding NextGen, adding in a dedicated EWC official, their own backstage correspondent, and bringing in a pair of well respected EWC color commentators to the fold. NextGen has also decided it was time to put down roots, and give their up and coming talent somewhere to call home while they learn the trade. The official grand opening of the Legacy Generator – NextGen’s premiere training facility will be on February 13th. We’re told along with the opening of the Legacy Generator, the newest wave of NextGen talent will be introduced to the EWC Nation, and the NextGen staff will all get their proper welcome.
NextGen’s first official show of the 2023 season will be hailing from Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles on May 25th – but we’re told that the NextGen talent this season aren’t willing to let something like Stranglemania pass them by… so keep your eyes peeled on February 13th for more information.
